Reflection

Just had an urge to write...

1. In my 4 years of NIE, I realized that my ART modules are the most consistent in terms of scoring, despite it being my weakest Curriculum Studies subject. What I thought I would shine in (Science) did not materilaize. Math was netural. English (my Academic Subject a.k.a Major) was ...? Oh well. It was a great 4 yrs of studying, esp the last 2, where the Dip Ed group shrink into the current X-over batch. Great to see all of us graduate, esp those whom I met 4 yrs ago and are still around in NIE till that day we graduate.

2. It's a surreal feeling, but it feels _ _ _ _ (add your own adjective) when you put a blanket over someone sleeping (Parents, now I know a little bit how you feel). My granny, 87 hates the cold, but I do switch on aircon sometimes. As such I had to put the thick cottony cloth over her, to ensure that she is warm. As she has dementia, she would always stare at me when I put the blanket. And it feels so good..

Remember, cherish the people around you... Love them, even though they were bad...

Time to say Thank You...

This post is for all those I know in NIE, 2006-2010. Think this is the longest blog entry...

As the last semester comes to an end in another month's time, I looked back into the last 4 years where I studied and had fun in this campus in Jurong West. I want to take this opportunity to thank my fellow NIE mates (current and ex-current) whom i had the opportunity to work with over these long 4 years.

First off, the people in Dip Ed years. They were important cause almost 25% of my grades come from them. Without them, I will not be able to get my Diploma, but also the chance to crossover (don't think basketball)..

DCS201: Fahmei and ?
Practicum: Rachel and Junita (forget her name!)

I must apologize for the question marks, cause I had no clue who are my other workmates (their names were not inside the assignment list)..

Next, those who were with me in my BA Degree Prog. They are also important, not just because of the grades (which brought me to honours level at this point), but also the fact that for most of them, they accepted me even though I have no experience in English Language CS or SKs (English Language is my 'major'). Sometimes I wondered if I would pull their grades down (and I think so!), but despite the worry, they still allowed me to join in their group projects...

Reliving 7th Sept 2008..

Today marked the 4th edition of Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore triathlon race. For those who are not very familiar, it's basically an endurance sport where individuals or teams of 2-3 complete a swim, bike and run consecutively. In this specific race, pros and age groupers have to complete the 1.9km (38 laps) swim, 90.1km bike and a half marathon, all in 8.5hrs.

I went to the expo yesterday and bought some PowerBar energy gels (cheaper than G*C then) and walked around on my wet bike (it was a wet afternoon). Though there were not many people and shops, but it was great reliving what i did 2 yrs ago...

I did the race with minimal training and prep, and got into the starting line at around 7am. After swimming for an hour, i remember proceeded to do a 5min transition (way too long la), before taking the bike course. I remembered i was on the road, ready to mount. The cyclist in front was not ready and I had little space to move out, and I fell on my right! Ouch.. Fortunately no major cuts, but my chains fell off the rings. I was struggling to start riding, until a spectator call out "check the chain!". I saw the mess and tried to find a solution. Thankfully, a competitor came to assist and I proceeded on...

Around 4 hours later, back at the transition area, i was preparing for the run, and I forgot to bring my energy supplies along! Alamak! The lack of energy caused me to slow down after the first few km and caused me to become a walker. I tried to run, but the body doesn't want to.. Sigh, I tried to brisk walk, aiming at 10min per km ( at that time, my leg also complaining liao). I remembered seeing less and less spectators supporting and aid station people are resting, as i walked on the race.

Along the last 7 km, due to the sweltering heat, I placed water sponges on the front of my trisuit and proceeded to finish the race. A competitor commented "Nice boobs" as we walked on opposite sides. I don't really like the comment then, but i pushed on, knowing that I must finish the race...

As i walked towards the finishing line, there were little people at the side cheering the competitors (Now U know how slow I am). I walked on, looking at the watch and heaved a sigh of relief: I completed the race in 8:28 hrs. I was glad i made it. As i packed out my stuff at the TA, i realized that someone stole my shoebag! Argh.. Thankfully nothing important was inside...

A lot of thing can be learnt in a race: Perseverence, Determination, Patience and many more.. For those who are aiming for endurance racing, hope for the best and prepare for the worst!

I cannot understand this...

Why do pple like to squeeze in front of the MRT train/bus doors, even though their destination is like miles away? Then inside the carriage, there's space, but they don't want to go in?? Pple who want to board them will have to wait for another one. Sometimes, it takes a minute or 2. Buses? Worse, have to wait for 10 mins..

When pple from inside the carriage want to go out, they have to squeeze through the door of people (inside and outside!), and so of the faces are like 'peeved off' even when squeezed. Sometimes, pple outside also want to go in and they will go in before the alighters go out, leaving some of them taking an extra MRT/bus stop..

Feelings? PCK did not work on them... Frustrated, I guess.

人日。。。

According to Chinese traditions, the 7th day of the new lunar month is known as 人日, aka man's birthday.. On this day (nowadays), people eat yusheng, a type of tossed fish salad to celebrate.

Also a reminder that next Sunday is the 15th day of the new lunar month, known as 元宵, aka Chinese Valentine's Day (correct me if I am wrong). On this day, people go for lantern festival, and lovely-dovey things are done..

Enjoy the weekend ahead!

CNY and Vancouver 2010?

To all: A blessed CNY, Valentine's Day and holidays! Heehee.

Was on Google this evening, and saw that Winter Olympics 2010 is in Vancouver, Canada and it is like today! Must be exciting for the athletes there, preparing themselves to fight with the best out there.. Speed-skating, Biathlon, Bob-sleigh and many more..

I was reminded of this man who unexpectedly won Gold in 1000m Speedskating event in Salt Lake City, Utah.. A reminder to all: Don't Give Up!!

Enjoy!

Amateur Surgeon.. Not Easy!

A few days back, I had the chance to play a game in my friend's iPhone: Amateur Surgeon. A game where a pizza boy met up with an ex-doc and a series of surgeries began to save people from many problems of funny origins! Got attracted to it, and since I don't have iphone, I guess i will have to find it online. Managed to get it and played heehee... Be a quack surgeon is cool too.

On the other hand, I can understand a little how surgeons felt when they are in OT saving lives. As i played the game, I had to restart (due to lack of time and low probability to heal the person), and I used whatever tools i have to cause him to 'die' fast. But in real life of surgeries, speeding up a person's death is unacceptable: Docs do their best to save every life, because each life is precious..

Your life is precious too, not just to yourself, but to your parents and God. You may think that your life has tumbled and cannot take the toil anymore, or your life is wasted, but to them, you are still precious. Cherish your life, and kudos to all doctors here and around the world (esp to Jaryl, Aloysius, Jonathan, Justin..)!

Relationships...

BG-Relationships are complicated...

"I wonder what he/she thinks about me.." Then the person tries many things and stuff to attract the other person's attention/fancy, but got snubbed because he/she does not like it..

"I think I like him/her, and I think he/she likes me too.." But when both come together, they realized that both's expectations are different (near or far in time), then they break up..

A reminder that in a relationship (or even marriage), its just 2 sinners coming together to know and love each other. To me, Love is doing what is best to the other person, and putting yourself less for him/her. I learnt that all courtships should aim towards marriage as the final point, and the process of doing it is a point in time where you know more about the other person.

Finally, having a relationship does not equate that he/she is the one, as such the individual's testimony should still be exemplary, as we are accountable to God at the end of the day, and people may ask your ex about U, then there will be a problem...

An irony, that despite the many things that I have said here, I am still "diamond king old five"...

As long as the other person (that i like) is happy, I will be happy too... Not easy though...

Mel and Shidah, I cannot reach the dateline U set for me..

I am back...

"My name is Yeo, WHYeo.."

Haha, guess It's time to put in somethings in my blog, making it alive!! School is starting it's 5th week and more things are coming up: 1 Math assignment, 1 Science assignment (3rd one!) and more things coming in!

God works in all things! I want to testify that, because my mom reconciled with my younger bro this evening, after a heated argument in the morning. It was 'cold war' scenario when I came back from FMC in the afternoon, and the ambience at home was different. Some minor food issues caused it and it was really sombre then. I ask God for His Intervention over this, He answered...

Then in the evening, both of them met F2F and my bro cried, realizing his mistake.. He must be taught the soft way... I guess.

Anyways.. i hope to update this regularly.. The Lord be with U...
